No person shall in this state act or hold himself, herself, or itself out to be an independent, staff or public adjuster unless then licensed by the Kentucky Department of Insurance as an independent, staff or public adjuster. In checking with the Kentucky Insurance Department, an automobile appraiser who estimates damages or calculates the value of a car or other motor vehicle and reports to an insurance company must be licensed as an Independent Adjuster.

Note: In many instances such as performing automobile valuation or diminished value appraisals for vehicle owners, there are no specific licensing requirements. It is advisable to hire an independent appraiser who is licensed in any state in order to assure a quality appraisal.
