An adjuster acts solely on behalf of either the insurer or the insured, as an independent contractor or as an employee of an independent contractor; and investigates for, reports to or adjusts for the individual’s principal relative to claims arising out of insurance contracts. In checking with the Wyoming Insurance Department, an automobile appraiser who estimates damages or calculates the value of a car or other motor vehicle and reports to an insurance company must be licensed as an independent adjuster.
